Today I was lined up to go party it up at a ?uestlove event out in Brooklyn. You know drinking, dancing and enjoying my Pre-MLK holiday. BUT unlike most people I totally refused to understand the concept of pre-ordering tickets. HAHA ohh the joy of trying to order sold out tix. With no party lined up I decided to stay home and knock out more illustrations. What you see above is the culmination of my poor ticket buy ability.

For this piece I used Adobe Photoshop to create the original illustration of ?uestlove then added textures, type and various lighting techniques to create the final effect. I think its pretty dope for about 2 1/2 hours of work.  I’m currently a few days behind on schedule, 17th day and 14th illustration. No excuses, I told you this was a work in progress. Catch you tomorrow.

Today was a long day. Spent it running errands, going to kids parties and doing laundry. Oh yeah, getting over partying last night. First time in a while. That’s why today’s image is coming in so late. So I have decided to be very diligent with this painting thing. So here’s another Photoshop painting. No layers or layer effects. Just a straight painting of a famous Movie scene wallpaper. If you can figure it out you get a cookie.

Every day I’m hustling. Every Day I’m Hustling!

So I decided to take another swing at Wacom drawing and some character design. This character I’ve had for some time and is part of a story I’m writing for the sole purpose of creating characters as practice. There’s still a lot to figure out with this style of drawing. Its almost like starting over again. Getting control of my line weights, learning how to generate shadows and blends. The whole process of being confident in my lines feels weird since I’ve been comfortable in my drawing style for so long.

Running the pen across a Wacom tablet feels strange to me as it does feels familiar.  Maybe I’m not explaining it correctly but its a considerably a process. Well another day down another drawing completed. More tomorrow.

Shaftie the Poo is a small glimpse into my mind and my obsession with adding mustaches to everything and every image that’s around me. It’s probably the reason why Evil Twin Teddy Bear has a goatee. The version of this image that sits on my desk at work, was cut out of paper and taped to a Winnie the Pooh image (see for yourself after the break). I find it quite hilarious your mileage may vary.

This image was drawn directly into Photoshop and did not have an image to trace. Surprisingly the image came out decent and its possibly the first all Wacom drawing I’ve done that I actually like.

Today’s image is brought to you by the letter Jay and the Letter Z. Its no secret Jay-Z is my favorite rapper I had this idea to design an image based on him and this is the first part of a multi-stage image. I used photoshop to create an illustrated version of a photo of him then cleaned it up in Illustrator. Colors and final layout done in Illustrator. This is a good beginning but far from over. Total work time: 2hrs 15 mins. Give or take 15-20mins. Let’s see what tomorrow holds.

So today’s image is brought to you by my daughter Azailia. Not so much as she drew it but more that she inspired it mainly because its an illustration of her. As I started drawing today’s image she asked me to draw her so I did. As she went to sleep I was excited to see her reaction in the morning.

Upon awaking and seeing my final piece she promptly smiled with her approval then quickly started Art Directing alterations and improvements. You can see her changes after the jump. I guess what they say is true… everyone’s a critic.
