This is one of my favorite illustrations its called “Feel My Pain.” In it a guy has his new air force ones scuffed on his first day wearing them out side. A tragedy without a doubt. You’ve seen this piece before but now for the first time I’m sharing with you a piece of planning of this artwork. I super imposed the original sketch on top of the actual artwork (somewhat) to show how it all began. This is a peak into my sketchbook. Even if its a pinhole peak.
Continue to the rest of the postThere are many things that I excel at: Illustration, graphic design, making women laugh, playing StarCraft 2, being a good dad… The one thing that has always escaped me these many years has been my ability to paint. My skill in that is god awful. I’ve tried time and time again and I just get frustrated. So over the weekend. I bought a set of acrylic paints, brushes and a pad with the goal to do like I did with everything else… teach myself how to paint. Eventually I’ll take a class but for now I’ll just mess around and see what transpires. What do you think?

So I can’t paint. Well, I can. I’m just not that good at it. One of my summer goals is to learn how to do it more proficiently. I think part of it has to do with the amount of time I spend actually painting… the other part of it has to do with learning to master lighting better then I currently do. My plan is to spend roughly 10 hours on this piece. Working and re-working the shapes, lighting and textures of this piece. Each hour I’m gonna create a jpeg to show the progress. This is the results of the first 3hrs. After the jump you’ll see how it all began.

Writer’s block is universally known as the moment the writer can’t figure out where to take the story her characters to next. Or more simply “the inability to write.” Its like when a runner hits the point in a marathon when he feels like he can’t go any further. They call it the wall. In art when I can’t figure out what to design, draw or create its simply known as a lack of inspiration. Or if you want to get all artsy, it feels like you’re searching for a new muse…

I’m currently working on a subway series of illustrations that show you a the world of commuting to work using Metropolitan Transit Authority system every morning. There is such a wide variety of people, cultures and freaks of nature that pop up in the early morning commute. Here are some clips of the sketches I’ve done for these pieces. This is not the entire series as there are more that I haven’t scanned yet. Keep a look out for more glimpses of this project in the near future.

I have this poem I wrote about waiting for my next girl friend to arrive into my life. Which is done and complete but the visual wasn’t and still isn’t. At the same time, I’ve come to grips with the fact that I’m lazy and have been really neglectful of my work, readers and fans. Here’s a little taste of what’s to come. I’m posting again later today with a list of the upcoming projects I’m working on so look out for that around 4pm today.
