I like Kanye West. I am a fan of his music and occasionally I am inspired by it. Recently he’s been dropping singles of his new album and I’ve been getting hyped. The first was “Power” that had all kinds of crazy beats, sounds, choirs and shit going on. I’m actually working on a piece for that now. The second one was “Monster” featuring Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and supposedly Rick Ross. Another really dope track that I listened to repeatedly. This was the inspiration for this piece. I thought about adding some blind shades to him or even making a Frankenstein Kanye… but that was back seat driving and those ideas came after it was completed. Literally as I posted this that came to mind.

Below you will find the original concept for this piece with no reference. I showed it to my co-worker Scott from ewearesheep.com and he set me straight on what Frankie should look like. Thanks scott it came out pretty cool with your help.

Mental Note: I think I’ve been going to simple with my art and need to add some insanity and spontaneity to them.

As we all know… my painting skills aren’t the best. They are almost abysmal. BUT I’m trying and in the end, isn’t that what’s its all about? Improvement? Desire? At least that’s what I’ve been telling myself to keep motivated. I did this in Art Rage this semi-free painting program that works for both mac and pc. I looking to get my hands on painter so that I can get a little more precise because the tools in AR are pretty loose.

Once again more insanity from the bowels of my work harddrive. Here’s a music inspired animal tee starring a Tiger throwing up the rock & roll devil horns. I would think Tigers would be more into Jazz or house music but everything can’t be a stereotype right?

There will be another post this week that’s already written about fate I’m just trying to create the right image to go with it.

In other Popephoenix News: I’m starting on my path to learn 3D modeling and have started messing around with Z brush and Maya. Once I have more than a sphere with bumps on it to show, there will be some pieces popping up on the Atlas. Finally, my children’s book is almost complete. Now all that is left is the cover and the intro page. More on that soon as well.

Peace and stay creative.

So here is the final version of the Scott Pilgrim Illustration from Monday. Found some time to lay down some color on those inks. This is all illustrator with not Photoshop. I’m working on expanding my use of gradients and blur in my AI files. This is the first real attempt. Let me know what you think as I love the feed back. Hit me if you have any questions.

So last night, my boy and Table of Truth partner Cam and I went to see, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. If you have at any moment enjoyed video games, anime, elaborate fights sequences, teen angst and comedy, you should go see this movie. I have to admit, I took my time to finally purchase my ticket as I’ve was busy sleeping and such. But I have to tell you this movie is amazing. Possibly one of the best comic book movies I’ve ever seen.

So to honor this movie, i was inspired to draw a picture depicting a scene from the movie of which I will not divulge for those who have not seen it. This is a work in progress and i’ll be posting up the more later in the week. For now enjoy this black and white feast and the original sketch/concept piece below.
