Steampunk Spider-man by Popephoenix

My goal is to produce as much work as possible and post it on this site whenever I can. With that said here is Steampunk Spider-man. With his hydraulic based webshooters and climbing mechanism, Steampunk Spidey can climb any surface and fights crime in this industrialized city of New York.

I think I’m gonna turn this into a t-shirt and sticker which you can find over at my Red Bubble store.

PLNDR popephoenix NO LOVE tee

[Update] Today I found out I WON the PLNDR Members Made T-shirt Contest.

Although I didn’t have the majority vote (I really call shenanigans on that *wink)  I did win the favor of the judges at PLNDR and I was announced the winner. I wanna thank everyone who voted for me and everyone who help promote me by influencing their social circles. Another step in the road to artistic fame. Thanks again.

So today I decided to participate in the PLNDR Members Made t-shirt contest. Even though I’m not entirely thrilled with the terms I could use a $1000 in credit on their site so why not take a shot. I’ll create more ideas tomorrow. If you’re on this site you must like my work in some way if that’s the case, please show your support by hopping over to the site and casting a vote for my tee. I’m not condoning down voting but I wouldn’t be mad if you did. I kid, I kid.

Most Kings Lebron JamesPoster

As I’m still waiting to hear about the outcome of the PLNDR contest I put this poster together. My friends any I were discussing the legacy of Lebron James. Of all the stars in the history of sports none have been more scrutinized as he has. Yes they call him “King James” and yes he anointed himself “The Chosen One.” with that tattoo. He is constantly analyzed and dissected by media and sports reporters. A year ago he participated in the Decision and just yesterday EPSN2 did a two hour recap of the effects of this show one year later. Who does that?

So I can’t paint. Well, I can. I’m just not that good at it. One of my summer goals is to learn how to do it more proficiently. I think part of it has to do with the amount of time I spend actually painting… the other part of it has to do with learning to master lighting better then I currently do. My plan is to spend roughly 10 hours on this piece. Working and re-working the shapes, lighting and textures of this piece. Each hour I’m gonna create a jpeg to show the progress. This is the results of the first 3hrs. After the jump you’ll see how it all began.

151-MonsterVillage-popephoenix

Week 3 of the Book of Debroga and this we brings a bug of a monster. This week finds us exploring a Bee Slime, an insect like create that is made entirely of slime. Usually found hunting in groups of three this monster tends to  surprise its prey because even though it has wings it doesn’t move very fast. The ooze its body is made of is one giant organism and digestive track. Once it engulfs its prey it melts the flesh off to digest it to something more pleasing to its pallet.

149 Lady in Red Popephoenix

Writer’s block is universally known as the moment the writer can’t figure out where to take the story her characters to next. Or more simply “the inability to write.” Its like when a runner hits the point in a marathon when he feels like he can’t go any further. They call it the wall. In art when I can’t figure out what to design, draw or create its simply known as a lack of inspiration. Or if you want to get all artsy, it feels like you’re searching for a new muse…
