I’m essentially a dreamer. This video is something I dream of…
Continue to the rest of the postOnce again more insanity from the bowels of my work harddrive. Here’s a music inspired animal tee starring a Tiger throwing up the rock & roll devil horns. I would think Tigers would be more into Jazz or house music but everything can’t be a stereotype right?
There will be another post this week that’s already written about fate I’m just trying to create the right image to go with it.
In other Popephoenix News: I’m starting on my path to learn 3D modeling and have started messing around with Z brush and Maya. Once I have more than a sphere with bumps on it to show, there will be some pieces popping up on the Atlas. Finally, my children’s book is almost complete. Now all that is left is the cover and the intro page. More on that soon as well.
Peace and stay creative.
Continue to the rest of the postSo here is the final version of the Scott Pilgrim Illustration from Monday. Found some time to lay down some color on those inks. This is all illustrator with not Photoshop. I’m working on expanding my use of gradients and blur in my AI files. This is the first real attempt. Let me know what you think as I love the feed back. Hit me if you have any questions.
Continue to the rest of the postSo last night, my boy and Table of Truth partner Cam and I went to see, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. If you have at any moment enjoyed video games, anime, elaborate fights sequences, teen angst and comedy, you should go see this movie. I have to admit, I took my time to finally purchase my ticket as I’ve was busy sleeping and such. But I have to tell you this movie is amazing. Possibly one of the best comic book movies I’ve ever seen.
So to honor this movie, i was inspired to draw a picture depicting a scene from the movie of which I will not divulge for those who have not seen it. This is a work in progress and i’ll be posting up the more later in the week. For now enjoy this black and white feast and the original sketch/concept piece below.
Continue to the rest of the postIt’s been a while but I felt like messing around in photoshop today and found an illustration I drew and scanned in earlier in the year. Just a regular old masked freedom fighter. Possibly a spy with those goggles. But I felt like coloring him. I’m a bit rusty and haven’t digitally painted anything in a long time. SO i figured why the hell not. In the process I came up with two variant versions which you can find after the break. Let me know which one you like best. Enjoy and I’ll see you guys on Monday.

As the photo is evidence of; I have returned from the future to bring you news of what’s to come:
- They are still making superhero movies and have rebooted Spider-man 3 more times.
- Obama’s son has become CEO of America with a hostile stock buyout of the white house.
- The Popephoenix blog had still not been updated since 2010.
1 of these things really did sit right with me so I’m here to correct the biggest error of the next century by updating my blog again. The last two months have been crazy and along the way I lost my focus, got caught up in a mental bog and let the world dictate my decisions instead of the other way around. In my travels I’ve learned that inaction and action hold the same weight of responsibility.
Today is first day of weekly posts on Monday. Daily blogs was a lot for me to take on but was very helpful of my continued effort to become a better illustrator and eventually paid concept artist. I learned so much from the 3 months of daily posts that I want to do it again but I have to build up to that level. Like always, I just dove, head first instead of testing the waters and seeing how deep it was.
As a whole, you will get a Monday post with possibility for more through out the week depending on my work out put for the week. Later people.
