New submission for Illustration Friday. This weeks theme is Subterranean and this is my interpretation. Only thing that came to mind was some Morlock-esque, Moleman, deep cave dwellers.

Well, well, well… look at that snazzy tee that kid is wearing on the Graphic Tee page of Rue21′s website. Not only is that kid modeling one of my tees but that Large Skulls and Cross tee is mine as well. Shit, I feel like fist pumping like a champ right now…

More painting on the quick fast. I know the the file name of this image may say 30 minutes but in reality it took about 45. Tweaking lighting, shaping the face, trying to get the emotion right. There’s probably more that I could do to this but I think I’ll leave it the way it is.

Funny thing, that I’ve learned so far this year is that I really don’t have a set subject matter. Some people are goofy, sexy, political, abstract or realistic. My mentality/subject matter just switches each day. Which I enjoy. I wonder sometimes if I should ever just stick with just one subject and just keep pounding away at it day after day. Maybe I’ll try that next month. Maybe I’ll do the opposite. Should you have one focus as an artist?

Everyone knows I love natural women… Women with Afros especially. Something about them rocking their hair, out, unfiltered by the touch of cosmetic science. Its amazingly beautiful. So after reading the new ImagineFX mag about pin-up girls and the painting techniques that help make them artificially real, I decided to dive in.

Later this year, I plan on will be putting on my first show so I might as well start practicing right now right? This is my first test, figuring out colors and brushes. Finding the sweet spot in your style while balancing out information from others is one tougher things about the study of art. You want to improve and the easiest and best way is find out how others did it. But, if not careful, you can let their style influence you too much and you’re style gets diluted.

Mario & Luigi Mario are the brothers tasked with the security of the Mushroom Kingdom. Under their tenure peace and prosperity ruled the land. Then the scandals started with relationships with Yoshi & abuse of mushrooms. Large sums of gold stars and coins were unaccounted for in the treasury and Princess Daisy… poor Daisy. That day will always be remembered.

King Koopa watched and waited for his opportunity to take advantage and he did. Now forced out of power, the Mario Bros are cast into the sewers fighting an addiction to 1ups. But with news of Princess Peach’s corruption at Koopa’s hand, The Bros seek out redemption and the rescue of their once beloved friend.

King Koopa, the one true bad ass of the Mushroom Kingdom has finally succeeded in toppling the ruling class. With his hordes of underlings and large family of Koopa kids, The King truly rules with an deadly fist. After getting the Princess addicted to power ups it was easy to control her and banish Mario and his brother Luigi out of the kingdom and into the sewers where he believes they belong.

With no one left to uphold justice, King Koopa flooded the world with cheat codes and dupe tricks making everyone super and addicted. No holding the only means to get power-ups, Koopa has the world spinning in the center of his scaly green claws.
