Honestly, I don’t know where this came from or why its only airing in Australia on ABC3 but I’m sold on so many reasons.

  1. Black Panther is a solid Black Character and King of his nation. Marvel has a lot of black characters in their roster (I’m looking at you Rocket Racer) and its even more rare for one star in his own show.
  2. The Voice Talent: Djimon Hounsou voices Black Panther, king of the African nation of Wakanda. Along with T’challa’s family sister Shuri (Kerry Washington) and his wife Storm (Jill Scott.) How can you not love this collection of talent.
  3. Character designs are done by one of my favorite comic book artists, John Romita Jr. He’s a Marvel artists who’s been around for years and I’ve been following his work since I was in High School… many, many, moons ago.

Only downside to this is the show is only airing in Australia and has no US air date… Sigh. At least BET is involved so maybe it’ll come to the US eventually. Thinks about BET’s past…

Today’s image come courtesy of my unpromoted love of writing. This is an old poem written some time ago. Life and experiences dictates vision of an artist, in saying this we all live through both highs and lows. When I wrote this I was dealing with a darker part of my life. I was overwhelmed by responsibility, desire, lust, pride and ignorance. Also this was around the time Kanye dropped 808s & Heartbreak (which is pretty dark itself.)

With my mind polluted with mental stress and Heartless, Coldest Winter and Pinocchio’s Story on infinite repeat the only outlet I could find was my pen and in my writing. This is one of a series of poems that I wrote during that time and over the course of the year I’ll post more.

I’d love to hear what you think of this prose. How do you deal with stress and your dark days?

Today I was lined up to go party it up at a ?uestlove event out in Brooklyn. You know drinking, dancing and enjoying my Pre-MLK holiday. BUT unlike most people I totally refused to understand the concept of pre-ordering tickets. HAHA ohh the joy of trying to order sold out tix. With no party lined up I decided to stay home and knock out more illustrations. What you see above is the culmination of my poor ticket buy ability.

For this piece I used Adobe Photoshop to create the original illustration of ?uestlove then added textures, type and various lighting techniques to create the final effect. I think its pretty dope for about 2 1/2 hours of work.  I’m currently a few days behind on schedule, 17th day and 14th illustration. No excuses, I told you this was a work in progress. Catch you tomorrow.

This was good weekend for the book. I set out to complete two pages for the book and I did. I’m gonna shoot for three next week. I’m excited for what will happen once this book is completed. More excited when I can start promoting and showing off the final pieces. Soon Probably Mid-February.

Spidey… OHHH how I love thee.

As I walk down this path for discipline and design enlightenment, I discover that there are a 1000 different ways draw an image. I’m gonna try as many different ways I can think of. This image was colored in Photoshop using a multiply layer over my black inks. Haven’t really slept well lately. Too much work to do. Brain is on like 15%. Pardon for the short post but time to sleep. Manana.

Ohhhh. Yea I’m late… MAD late. Now I’m in the hole. This is harder than I thought and this week has been spent working, going to meetings, bidding for a freelance job, surviving the cold and taking classes. Full week. This weekend will be spent working on the children’s book solely. The Goal is to hit at least two complete pages by Monday… I know that doesn’t sound like alot but it is, lol. Baby steps homie, baby steps.
