Click here to see my work posted with the other selections for the February Desktop Wallpaper collection. I am excited that my work was chosen to be apart of this post but as a few commentors mentioned, the quality of the work chosen fluctuates. It makes me wonder… was I chosen because my work was excellent or was it chosen because it was submitted? I may never know. Either way, I’m proud to have been nominated like the oscars. Thanks Smashing Magazine I’ll be seeing you guys again next month. By year end, maybe my own dedicated post.
Continue to the rest of the postToday’s image is a representation of some of the weird shit I have to do at work. This was/is a tee designed for Walmart x Ocean’s Pacific. What’s going on… I don’t know. Why is there a giant blue Cheshire Cat in middle? Why is that woman jack-in-boxing out of that tiki mask? Is that a dog surfing? Is that a surfboard crown? My blog apologies… I have no answers to those questions. But it is crazy funny to look at… What do you think?
Continue to the rest of the postSo today… I’m having a lil fun. All week I’ve been posting dark images. Some by choice, some by accident. After all this darkness I said I would do something a little more cheery BUT lol. This is what came out. So I started thinking about how we are resurrecting all our childhood memories and making them more hip, extreme or darker. Ninja Turtles, The Chipmunks and now the Care Bears. Honestly, I just thought it was funny to have tatted up Care Bears, kicking ass to make you happier and more cheerful. By any means necessary. HA… this is insanity. Hope you like it. Did I go too far this time?
Continue to the rest of the postHere’s the deal. When I set out for work today I decided I was gonna post whatever I designed for the job today as my post… Unfortunately, I had to draw this beautiful specimen of upliftment and joy. This also continues a dark streak on AoP this week. It was not my intention to do so, I’m just a victim of dark circumstance, lol.
All Photoshop. Drawn from scratch start to finish starting with a like wash at around 30% opacity on a round brush and slowly building up into detail and shadow and light. Smoke was added using a brush pack I found online. I think the feathers could be better but lets compare these to wings I draw later this year, like around my birthday. This REALLY my last dark post for this week, no skulls, monsters or heart wrenching poems. Only sunshine and high-fives from Care bears with milkshake tummy tattoos… Are Care Bears the first thugs? Maybe Love Thugs?
Continue to the rest of the postI totally slept on this post. But this past weekend I had the opportunity to work with my good friend and co-founder of Random Order, Ridwan Adhami, on a video shoot. He landed this project to direct a music video for Outlandish, a Hip-Hop group based out of Denmark. He asked me to Art Direct this shoot at what is possible the grimiest, dirtiest, dangerous location in all of LIC. The shot of above is not a still from Saw 7 but the location we shot at. Seriously, I didn’t want to sit down with the fear of catching the Legacy Virus x T-Virus.
But in between 30 degree weather, spooky hallways, asbestos filled rooms, spooky staircases, ghosts, burning lights, ill timed, camera flashes and one skinned polar bear, we were able to create some really dope product. I really can’t wait till you see what we shot.
I really enjoyed working with Outlandish and Ridz’s crew for the day. There is one more shoot to be done before the video is complete. As soon as that’s done I’ll be back here with it to show everyone.
Continue to the rest of the postOK. I thought about this idea a little late to do one for January. Nevertheless here is my February vs Valentine’s Day calendar wallpaper. This is a different take on a Valentines Day image as you never know what love will bring. Love is a fickle mistress and is more spontaeneous then a room full of caffeinated spokesmen with Touretts. If that makes sense.Which it probably doesn’t.
This wallpaper was first drawn out with pencil then scanned in. Then using Photoshop to ink, paint and light till I reached a point of completion. I had fun with this and can’t wait to work on my next one for March. This particular piece is gonna be submitted to Smashing Magazine’s monthly calendar wallpaper. Hopefully, It’ll get picked. I’ll keep everyone updated.
Hahaha Wooo… ok. Today has been kinda dark visually. I’ll lighten the mood with my next post. Promise…
